'Events and Kudos'
From the editor of Life Magazine
The  article was about Lanesboro and 'special/well
known' places and appeared on news stands in the Star
Tribune (Minneapolis) and the Pioneer Press (St Paul),
as well as all over the country on July 14th.
Mrs. B's Historic Lanesboro Inn as one of 'the' places.
The article suggested,
"Stay at Mrs. B's Inn while in Lanesboro"
After a year of much work in this wonderful Inn,
what a lovely surprise and great honor.  Many
thanks to the people of Lanesboro who have welcomed
us so warmly and supported us in our efforts here.

GETAWAY TOWNS

The best small-town escapes include
all the ingredients for perfect
weekends:  pretty settings, memorable
lodgings and restaurants, plus plenty
to see and do.  Here's a
sampling of our favorites.  We bet
you will love them, too.

Lanesboro, Minnesota

As you descend through the deep valley into Lanesboro, which hugs the
banks of southeastern Minnesota's Root River (40 miles southeast of
Rochester), you'll be enchanted by the scene.  Church steeples that rise
above the river, and restored 19th century storefronts line the broad main
street.
Until a paved 60-mile state trail~popular with bicyclists~replaced the old
rail line, this community of nearly 800 was a forgotten farm town.  Today,
the National Register of Historic Places lists the entire business district.
Visitors can stay at bed and breakfasts, many in the grand old homes of the
Norwegian, Irish and German immigrants who settled Lanesboro.

"You can't catch Leno or Letterman.  Taking cues from the Amish Farms nearby,
there are no phones or TVs in the rooms.
Surprisingly people don't seem to miss them.

Innkeepers, Terry and Ginger Neumann, preserve a Victorian motif while adding only a
few modern amenities like A/C.  Built in 1872 on the Root River Trail, guests say it is a
great place to relax or rekindle a relationship.  A bonus it's located right in downtown
Lanesboro and everything is within walking distance.
